| Abstract: | The quick contraction model of the Galaxy proposed by Eggen et al. (1962) is reexamined. If we assume a small random motion in the primordial gas (about 25 km/s), the high values of the eccentricities of orbits of old stars can be explained by the slow contraction model. |
