Title: Asteroidal Motion at the 3/1 Commensurability
Source: Astron. Astrophys. 33, 455-458
Year: 1974
Abstract: The variations of the eccentricity and of the mean daily motion of asteroidal orbits in and close to the 3/1 commensurability are investigated. The calculations are based on the plane elliptic restricted three body problem averaged by Schubart's method. Orbits with 894''<n<900'' and e>=0.08 support the collision hypothesis about the origin of the gap at the 3/1 commensurability in the frequency distribution of the asteroids.
