Title: | Stability of Systems of Positions Obtained with Transit Instruments, Derived from Fluctuations in the alpha tief delta-Systems |

Abstract: | Systematic differences DELTAalphadeltacos(delta) between absolute observed catalogues and the mean system of their instrument are presented for the catalogue series of the Pulkovo Large Transit Instrument, Greenwich Airy Transit Circle, Washington Nine-Inch and Six-Inch Meridian Circles, and Cape Reversible Transit Circle. The alphadelta-systems of each series show unexplainable variations of a few milliseconds, the Greenwich Airy Transit Circle showing the maximum fluctuations of 0.03s sec(delta). The Washington Six-Inch proved to have the most stable of these instrumental systems. |
