Title: The FK5, an Improved Fundamental Reference System Extended to Fainter Stars
Source: Mitt. Astron. Ges. 48, 29-41
Year: 1980
Abstract: Presented is a status report on work on the FK5 combined with a review of the principles underlying the formulation of a dynamical reference system. More detailed information is given on the determination of the equinox and equator of the FK5. At present it can be said that all alphaFK4 require the correction E=+0.031s at 1950 and that all FK4 proper motions must be corrected by DELTAmüalpha=(d/dt)E=0.085s simultaneously with the application of the corrections due to the new value of the general precession in order to ensure that the FK5 equinox is as closely as possible identical to the dynamical equinox. These values may not yet be the final ones, but it is certain that they will not be changed by more than a few milliseconds. No significant correction to the FK4 equator was found.
