Title: Effects of the Introduction of a new Fundamental Reference Coordinate System on Time Scales

Abstract: As a result of an analysis of determinations of the equinox and equator from observations of the sun and of major and minor planets, the equinox of the FK5 may be expected to differ from the FK4 equinox. It is also very likely that at least a part of the unexplained equinox motion can be eliminated. Attention is drawn to changes in time scales with the introduction of the FK5. Possible contributions of time determinations to future improvements of the Fundamental Reference System are considered.
