| Abstract: | Distance scales can be established from proper motions and radial velocities. The differences of the proper motion systems FK4, FK3, GC and N30 along the galactic equator are used for a comparison of the distance scales of these systems. The scales differ appreciably for distances greater than 500 parsecs. On the basis of the fundamental proper motion system FK4 which is considered to be the most accurate system significant results of mean parallax determinations can be expected up to 1000 parsecs at maximum. |
