| Abstract: | The periodic field strength variations of magnetic stars are interpreted as precession caused by a companion. This mechanism gives the same field variations as the oblique rotator. However, it permits the rotational and the magnetic axis to coincide. A characteristic period of 10d could be explained by a companion of 0.01 Msolar in an orbit of radius 0.01 A U. |
